Gurugram home: This 5BHK abode enjoys tranquility and natural light in abundance

"A space that can easily transition from being unusual to familiar, accommodating a family of two" was the brief the client gave to Priyanka Singh, founder and studio head of Chalk Studio. He wanted a pastel haven that prioritises minimalism yet stays warm, evocative and infused with character. Though the client was thoroughly involved in the whole process — he trusted Singh and her team with the final design decisions.
A striking combination of Patagonia marble and an artistic metal strip accentuates the white fluted panelling of the foyer wall, complemented by a shoe storage console finished in eucalyptus-toned veneer.
Spanning over 4,500 square feet in The Palm Springs, Golf Course Road Gurugram, this 5BHK abode has been informed by meticulous attention to detail, creating an experiential sanctuary that caters to the needs of a small family. The main emphasis lies in establishing a practical and calm atmosphere, where decorative features and bursts of colour within neutral tones take on the role of lively storytellers in this soothing sanctuary. Natural light gracefully envelopes the home, while curved edges and strategically placed wall openings add grace and elegance, providing a unique allure.

The foyer leads to the open-plan living and dining room which is the heart of the residence. Embracing a modern vernacular, the design intertwines nuances of marble cladding with textured beige walls, innovative storage solutions, and vibrant colour accents. These result in flawlessly executed statement vignettes that breathe life into the space. A burst of colour through upholstery and platers bring a harmonious balance while maintaining a steadfastly modern look.
The dining space features white concrete fluted panels that beautifully complement the marble-topped dining table and grey chairs.
"The guiding inspiration for this Gurugram home was to create a tranquil ambience, expressed through various facets such as picturesque windows that enhance the interiors, the use of neutral hues infused with pops of colour to break visual monotony and bring cheer, and the incorporation of curved edges for an organic appeal. We also made minor structural changes to the home, experimented with a variety of materials and fabrics, blending them harmoniously while staying true to the space's ethos," says Priyanka Singh.

Further down the passage is a thoughtfully designed study with an ensuite. Awash in tones of beige and brown and finished with gold accents, the study exudes subtle opulence. The colours across the home are bright but not in-your-face, cheerful but not ditzy.
The lavish ensuite bathroom boasts three sets of wardrobes and features double vanity mirrors mounted on sinuously fluted walls, echoing the bedroom's design elements.
A charcoal grey and black colour palette reigns supreme in the master bedroom, while the warmth of wooden flooring and a luxurious tan leatherette-finished bed add an understated luxury. "The clients were very happy with how their Gurugram home turned out. We had a good laugh when they mentioned they'd never be able to maintain any of the spaces as is, so let's enjoy it while it lasts," adds Singh.
